          John Ralph - Owner/Instructor
          Brown Belt - IKFF Certified

          Picture
John is the head instructor of Precision Jiu Jitsu.  He began training in Idaho Falls in 2006, traveling from Pocatello three nights a week in order to make classes.  His natural talent and drive to learn resulted in him becoming an instructor for Mr. Emfield very early on.

For anyone who has attended his classes, it is obvious that he has a vast understanding of the mechanics of Jiu Jitsu.  His ability to break down Jiu Jitsu into concepts instead of just "moves" makes his instruction meaningful on multiple levels.

He received his brown belt from Master Pedro in August, 2011.

John is also certified to teach Russian Kettlebells as part of the International Kettlebell and Fitness Federation

          Heath Ivers - Owner/Instructor
          Purple Belt

          Picture
Heath started training Jiu Jitsu when Jared Emfield opened the Pocatello academy in 2006.

He is a skilled and efficient technician which is evident in his practice and instruction. He is always ready to help his students with any questions they may have and his attention to detail for every technique makes his instruction exceptional.

To supplement his training at Precision Jiu Jitsu, Heath continues to take classes with Mr. Emfield as often as he can along with private sessions with his fellow instructors.

          Jessica Ralph- Owner/Instructor
          Brown Belt

          Picture
Jessica Ralph began training GJJ when the Pocatello academy first opened its doors.  Immediately, she realized the health benefits, both mental and physical, and was hooked on training.  Her small stature demanded that she learn the technique precisely and know all the nuances of the application.  This resulted in the most technically sound instructor at Precision.  Her passion to help any student at any time is unsurpassed.  Her teaching style favors one-on-one teaching and she is the main instructor for our kids Jiu Jitsu team, the Sharks.  When it comes time for a student to prepare for a belt test, Jessica is the one they come to for clear, detailed and exact answers to their questions.

Jessica earned her Brown Belt with Master Sauer in 2012, making her the highest ranking female in Idaho.

          Jared Emfield - Idaho Falls
          Black Belt

          Picture
Jared Emfield is the instructor and founder of The Academy of Martial Arts, Precision's sister-school in Idaho Falls.  Mr. Emfield began his training with Professor Sauer as a college student in Utah over ten years ago.  His qualifications include black belts in various martial arts, a black belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu under Pedro Sauer, Degrees in Education and Interpersonal Communication and a Master's Degree in Biomechanics of Ancient Combat from BYU.  He has been teaching martial arts for over 20 years.

We are lucky to have him as a guest instructor at Precision Jiu Jitsu whenever we can.

When he is not teaching at The Academy, Jared is either in the classroom teaching middle and high school students or chasing after his eight fantastic children.

          About Pedro Sauer
          Head of the Association

          Picture
Master Pedro Sauer was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where from an early age, he began training in the martial arts. At age fifteen, however, his friend, Rickson Gracie, invited him to train Jiu Jitsu with his younger brother, Royler, who at the time was only nine years old. The outcome of this experience convinced him that Jiu Jitsu was the most effective of all the martial arts, and he began training the very next day.

In 1990, he moved to California with the original wave of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructors. He lived in California with Rickson Gracie and trained daily with the Gracie brothers (Rickson, Rorion, and Royce), their father, Helio Gracie, their cousin, Renzo Gracie, and the Machado Brothers, as well as many others. In December of that same year, he moved to Utah where he lived for eight years, pioneering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the American southwest.

          Teaching Experience
Pedro earnedhis Black Belt from Helio and Rickson in 1985. Long recognized for the superior technical efficiency of his Jiu Jitsu, he then began his career as an instructor in 1986 when asked to teach with an organization known in Brazil as Corpo/Quatro (Body of Four) where he taught and continued his training under renowned Jiu Jitsu instructors Alvaro Barreto (who is a red belt master under Helio Gracie).

After moving to Utah in December of 1990, he taught as one of only two non-Gracie black belts under the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy (run by Rorion and Royce Gracie). In October of 1996, he became an official representative Black Belt Instructor under the Rickson Gracie American Jiu-Jitsu Association. In November 2007, Pedro received his red and black belt from long time friend and instructor Relson Gracie, 23 years after receiving his Black Belt from Helio & Rickson Gracie.

Professor Sauer resides in Virginia and instructs full time at his Total Self-Defense Academy in Sterling.  He also is instructs 1 day per week at Jeff Gordon's Martial Arts  Academy in Montgomery County, Maryland.  He has over 80 affiliated schools worldwide and he visits them on a regular basis to give intensive instruction to the students and instructors. He is one of the most highly sought after instructors (of any martial discipline) and has presented hundreds of public seminars around the globe.
