At Precision Jiu Jitsu, we have self defense classes for both adults and kids, but we offer so much more.
We know the trepidation involved in visiting an unfamiliar setting involving martial arts. Everyone is welcome to visit us during any of our regularly scheduled classes. Upon entering the front door you will be greeted warmly and treated with respect. When choosing a school at which to spend your time and hard-earned money, there are a lot of things to consider. Who is the instructor at the school? Where did they learn their craft? Do they really teach what they claim? Are my best interests truly the focus? The answers to these questions are just as important to us as they are to you. |

What Do We Teach?
Gracie Jiu Jitsu was created in Brazil by Helio Gracie. It is derived from Japanese Jiu Jitsu/Judo and was enhanced to utilize leverage as opposed to a player’s strength or power to give a smaller person more opportunity for success. It is not merely a sport, nor is it only for MMA and fighters, Gracie Jiu Jitsu was created for the specific purpose of self-defense.
Often the term “Gracie Jiu Jitsu” gets thrown around and too many schools make false claims in regards to their training, however, we aim to give our students the truest form of the art.
We make a promise at Precision Jiu Jitsu and we take it very seriously: Your safety, both on and off the mats, is our primary focus. We only bring you the finest techniques and concepts, not the latest fads in sport.
Our adult and kids programs alike are custom-tailored to create the appropriate learning environment for maximum understanding, retention and effectiveness. We do not teach from a pre-canned list, instead we constantly observe student progress and adjust our teaching accordingly. Each class is structured for each student, from beginners to more experienced students, to constantly improve their ability.

- Not only do we offer Gracie Jiu Jitsu three times a week in Pocatello, but our sister school in Idaho Falls with Mr. Emfield offers an additional three classes a week available to our students at no extra charge.
- We also have yoga classes with certified instructor Barb Rose available on Sunday evenings.
- Also an IKFF certified kettlebell instructor to further aid your fitness and overall health goals.
- Lastly, we have the only female brown belt instructor in the entire state of Idaho. This means that Gracie Jiu Jistu is not just for men. Ladies that are interested in training have a resource and (possibly) less intimidating training partners.

Our Lineage
We at Precision Jiu Jitsu are very proud of our lineage and to be a part of the Pedro Sauer Association. Our association leader, Master Pedro Sauer is one of the top Jiu Jitsu instructors in the world and trained directly with Helio Gracie in Brazil from a young age through adulthood.
Precision’s main influence and instructor is Jared Emfield. He is a black belt instructor in Idaho Falls and has trained exclusively with the Pedro Sauer association for over 10 years. All three of our main instructors have trained with Mr. Emfield directly and with Professor Sauer multiple times a year for over six years. We understand the value of not only superior technique and unparalleled integrity, but most importantly loyalty and brotherhood. Our school has been a Pedro Sauer affiliate for five years, and that will never change.
Our Jiu Jitsu does not come from “Youtube University”. Nor do we buy our belts online from Ebay. Further, we did not purchase a set of DVDs and try to pawn off poorly memorized knowledge in lieu of actual technique and understanding. We earn our abilities the old fashioned way, with sweat equity paid in full every time we train.

Student Progress
Only time practicing on the mats will ensure preparedness in an altercation on the street, not a belt ranking. That said, it is important for many students to see a progression. All practitioners of martial arts need a way to gauge their progress and their ability. Achieving belt rank in GJJ is a demanding yet very rewarding experience. At Precision you will learn all vital aspects of self defense during every class. Nothing is held back. You literally learn techniques that may be considered “black belt techniques" each and every training session no matter your belt ranking.
In the Pedro Sauer association, all ranks have requirements and are awarded only by Pedro Sauer and his black belt instructors. This ensures objectivity and gives the student the highest quality experience possible.
Precision Jiu Jitsu is not a "belt mill," student advancement is earned and, thus, our students feel an incredible achievement when promoted.

No "Meatheads" Allowed
Only students who treat their fellow practitioners with care and respect for safety and well being are allowed to practice with us.
Your safety is assured at all times during training at Precision Jiu Jitsu. You will never be placed in a situation where you are uncomfortable or matched with an opponent that doesn’t have your safety as a first priority. Students must understand that their ego cannot come before learning and safety. By having this strict policy we ensure that every class is a fun and valuable learning experience with a friendly atmosphere. |
What If I Want to Compete?
Precision Jiu Jitsu has a compitetion team, but it is not like other teams. Special rules have been put in place for eligibilty to ensure that only the highest expression of technique and integrety is maintained.
Gracie Jiu Jitsu, when applied effectively, is more than dominant at any Jiu Jitsu tournament. This is because sport Jiu Jitsu is a sub-set of GJJ, and as such, GJJ encompasses all the needed skills to compete at all levels. |
